Observation details
Adult in white-headed breeding plumage. Between Ring-billed and Herring Gulls in size (significantly smaller than herring), with paler mantle than either. Primary tips white; no dark markings apparent on underside of primaries when seen preening. Legs pink, less bright than Herring. Bill daintier than Herring, not bright yellow - more horn coloured with greenish cast to base. dark gonydeal spot. Pink/red eyering, eye appeared to be pale (but not seen well due to distance).Cathy, Jeff, Laird and Sandra saw the bird bird after I called people. Jeff can attach better photos (including bill in profile). EDIT: seen in flight April 12, no dark markings at all apparent on primary tips.
