Observation details
I stopped because I heard rustling at my feet thinking it would be a snake but it was a quail chick! As I looked around I saw several others scurrying up the hillside, and counted at least 6. An adult MOUQ flies right at me and struts around wings spread calling loudly. I snapped a couple pics and turned around. I had quail chicks in the same area last summer but never saw the adult. Nice to have documentation that they’re breeding here. Photos.
