Media notes

Response to playback (both types of vocalizations) of a Dusky Long-tailed Cuckoo that came in fairly low in the forest along the Royal Mile. It had been singing spontaneously in the distance. There are some hornbills in the background in the distance. Recorded using a Sony Minidisc Walkman MZ-R70 with a Sennheiser ME67 & foam windscreen.

Observation details

Grebe lifer! We called in a singing Dusky Long-tailed Cuckoo, which crossed the road back and forth a few times and eventually landed where we could get on it at least briefly; this is a bird of mid levels that came in low in response to playback.
