Observation details
Found and identified by Aaron Beechy. Second record for the county. My first in state, Single bird reported originally, but we discovered four more once onsite. Photos. Apparently they have been seen here since Sunday Dec 11th. Large shorebird with prominent crest, Olive green/gray backs and wings with light belly and sides and bold breast band. Buffy orange undertail coverts. vocalized occasionally- two note call. One of the flock seemed depleted and struggling to keep up with others. Added note: A single lapwing was photographed in Thomaston ME on Dec 11th. additional info. Aaron reported two of these were seen about 2.4 miles north along Route 1 in Houlton on Saturday Dec 24th 2022
