Observation details
A hatch year bird in the oaks, just north of the entrance booth. I pished this bird in while sitting in my car, parked on the east side of the oaks in the lot with two outhouses. The activity in this area warranted further scrutiny, which my singular subject focus, and the fleeting sunlight, did not allow. After good initial views, I spent nearly an hour trying to photograph. The bird stayed deep in the oaks after my first look, and I was only able to obtain lousy diagnostic photos as the sun was nearly set. A fairly drab Parula with faint eye arcs, yellow throat extending to breast, white belly extending to near undertail tip, finally terminating in dark gray. Pale gray face. Limited view of wingbars. I do not recall seeing the birds back. Photos
