Observation details
*Long-returning to this park in winter. Sleeping in a shallow marshy cove, in the vicinity of (but a healthy distance from) a group of mute swans. While they did very briefly pick their heads up to look around, confirming their identity, it was nice to study them in direct comparison to mute swan WITHOUT seeing their most obvious identifying characteristic. While their heads were tucked, we noted their more elongated shape, their straight outstretched tail compared to the cocked tail of the mute swans, and the bright rusty staining on their necks. Viewed from the end of Eldrich Road, birds located here (40.2149738, -74.4976204)
