Observation details
Immature male. For a long time, we puzzled over this bird, and considered it a candidate for Zeledon's Antbird, a species not known from Honduras. However, this individual fits immature male Bare-crowned Antbird of the local subspecies "chiroleuca" much better: larger than the nominate nudiceps; bill, legs and feet bluish gray, rather than black; leading edge of wings whitish (like Zeledon's, unlike nominate nudiceps); tips of wing coverts dark buffy (as in immature and female Bare-crowned); crown feathered (as in immature and female Bare-crowned).
