Observation details
Blackish duck seen (for practical purposes) only in flight. Very contrasting pale straw head and neck, especially throat/cheek. Eyeline weak, crown modestly dark (not as dark as ABDU or Mexi Duck). Bright white unmarked underwing coverts. Speculum blue, apparent thin pale trailing edge. Tail dark. Photos coming. Pale face with weak head markings eliminates ABDU. Mexican Duck should be paler bodied, more prominent white borders to speculum, darker head head markings.
