NOTES: (Species Sound: constant; Breeding Status: breeding; Behavioral Context: threat?; Sound Delivery Rate: agitated; Sound Source: nose and/or mouth; General Climate: humid; Cover Density: medium; Tape: 3M-209) 6 snorts given by doe as she retreated into swamp woods from spot where she had been attending her new-born fawn. I subsequently approached to within 2' of the fawn, which lay prostrate and entirely motionless on the ground. The fawn made no sounds, and the doe stood silently at a distance, so I gradually withdrew without eliciting further vocal response from either deer. LNS Note: Unbroken cut with internal recordist announcement gain change. JN 26 Oct 2005. Sound stimulation was (other): human encroachment. Other Behaviors: Emit Alarm, Perform Visual Display. Habitat: Forest, Freshwater, Swamp, Second-growth.
