NOTES: Behavior accompanying vocalization: Perched 50ft. up in top of adead Spruce.; Birds attracted and induced to sing by playback of Fairbanks birds calls.; I could hear the screech of the Hawk-Owl. Probably young. Played the calls and this bird responded immediately. From all appearances and actions, I believe that it was the female. I could still hear the screech calls from what I assumed were young while this bird was perched and called. the owl was induced to call by playback. BNA: Advertising Call (ulululululululul) of adult as well as Alarm or Screeching Call (of possibly adult or young: "screeeee-yip") may be heard. CZ 04/05/2004. Sound stimulation was (other): Playback of Fairbanks Birds. Habitat: Forest.
