Observation details
Located a small murrelet species swimming towards shore from about 200m after mistaking it for the head of an otter! I quickly traveled down to shore to get a bit closer and took these documentary photos of what I identified (with help) to be an ancient murrelet. We watched / photographed the bird for about 5 minutes before it took off to the south, flying low along the water. I believe this to be a first-ever for Yellowstone National Park.
