Observation details
At least one bird has been frequenting the lower reached of the rocky peninsula in front of and along the left edge of the Mendenhall Glacier. I walked with two others to where a bird had been seen two days previously and we found the bird. Photos taken. Several of my photos were reviewed by people with more experience than I have, to make sure the ID was correct. Bird was of small size, bill seemingly a bit smaller than for a Willow Ptarmigan. No black detected in outer tail feathers, with one or two images helping confirm.
