HY bird in cypress and acacia patch;
Observation details
** Rare vagrant. Continuing in mixed flock near Chili's. Photos. [DR comments: HY bird, probably a female? First found at this location on 5 Oct by Paul Fenwick. However, Cooper Scollan photo'd a MAWA across the lake near soccer field on 27 Sep. Cooper's photo appears to show more prominent eye-ring and darker flank streaks than today's bird. Presumably his bird is the one reported along the alder trail until 29 Sep. Since to my eye Cooper's MAWA does not look like this MAWA, and there was a 5 day break between sightings, I consider this a different MAWA. So this is the 2d one here this fall. As a curiosity, I discovered an imm MAWA in this same cypress tree on 17 Oct 2013; the first record for Laguna Grande at the time, and Rita saw it quickly. It remained in the "Chilli's" patch of (mostly) willows and some ornamentals until 25 Oct. I see in my notes for that date that it was, at the time, my 300th county year bird in 2013.]
