Observation details
I spotted the hawk as I was exiting the clinic building and walking to my car in the physician parking lot. initially it was flying quite low. it seemed slightly smaller than a TV and I soon noticed the buteo wing pattern and "zoned" tail. I sprinted for the car because I knew my camera was there. by the time I was ready to photograph the hawk had climbed higher and it eventually drifted away to the west--actually toward the same neighborhood where a zone-tail was photo'ed on Sept 4. I paid little attention to any other birds, focusing only on this hawk.
