Observation details
What an awesome bird. Seen on the beach on the south side of the peninsula/park thingy. Initial seen flying, then sleeping. Eventually perked up and started arguing with coots and feeding, called occasionally. 1st winter bird. Very slender overall, long black bill, black primaries and quite worn tan coverts with some gray feathers molting into the scapulars, mantle, and secondary coverts. Eye arcs evident. Walked super close to us after all the other birders left.
