Observation details
Expecting to see a Gallinule, I was surprised to see this 'black and white' bird, which I first thought was a Muscovy Duck.. No; was it a different Gallinule? A bad photo is better than none, and the skittish bird was heading for cover in the marsh. A Gallinule was also nearby, and they went into thicker grasses and sedges. The owner of this piscina allows his ponds to naturalize, so there are small fish, insects, etc in this thriving ecosystem. He was thrilled to know that a rare bird is happy in his piscinas. The glossy ibis also visits these piscinas.
