A pair of Red-capped Parrots at their nest in a dead Swamp Banksia (Banksia attenuata)
Observation details
Pair at nest in dead Banksia attenuata. Red-capped Parrots are endemic to south-western Australia. This pair was nesting in a hollow of a dead Swamp Banksia (Banksia littoralis). The duller female spent considerable time at the entrance to the nest hollow, with the brightly coloured male waiting nearby. The male moved to the entrance of the nest for a while, then moved a short distance away while the female remained in the nest hollow.
