Media notes

Recording Times: 11:50:00, 11:59 AM, 12:08 PM (UTC -4). Temperature: 13 C. Habitat: Coniferous Forest, Mixed Coniferous/Deciduous. Behavior and other notes: Seen bird, one loud drum and then soft tapping from foraging. The initial drum has some distortion due to over-topping. Drums later in track will have very slight overtopping distortion of the highest peaks. At 12:04 and following , a second bird flies in and the two copulate, making soft calls. Specific Location: Latitude 45.87520129, Longitude -68.6776424, Elevation 220 m. Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. Deasey Ponds Trail - forest area boardwalk within 50-100 m of the ponds. ID'd by Sight; ID confidence 100%.

Observation details

In the wooded area immediately adjacent to the pond. Observed the pair copulating and also saw a nest hole.
