NOTES: (Distance to Sound Source: Variable. Recordist's Tape #27 85/86, 28 85/86, 29 85/86. Bkground sounds: See notes cut LNS #41744. Conversation with Ekiru regarding the approach of a herd of elephants.) The songs interfigure interval more shortened. This is a continuation of cut #(LNS) 47144. The supplanting of male var. BB(B) by male var. GB(B). I was here in this grove the now called LAT Grove from 09.10(28!) - 11.05 with the activity (still continuing). Males chasing, singing, and altelrnate song. Four individuals were seen together but radio telemetry work in 1989 suggests more likely were there--(Note I shortened the interfigure interval.) I was shortening the interfigure interval between the songs. The complete songs (annotated) have this retained. Playback was used where so annotated but not before this annotation. Then the two males responded with alternate song and closer approach. In each instance it is the section immediately prior to the response that is played for the reaction. The LAT Grove is +/- .25 of a mile above i.e. up the hugga (dry river tributary) S of the Mukutan main site. A third male singing in background (heard). ("Victor calling" = song I. indicator).
