Observation details
Most of the Red Crossbills up there were giving what I believe to have been Type 2 flight calls. The first audio, below, is a short cut of the flight calls (n=3 flight calls) of one such bird, flying over; in the spectrogram, note the classic sharp down-slur with a kink in the middle. The next 9 are all of the same individual, hanging out near the bottom of the Mary Jane chairlift. Based on the recent article in Birding (Mar. 2022), I have no idea what age or sex this bird is. Well, I have an idea. But not much more. Anyhow, check out the diverse behaviors and vocalizations.
