Observation details
Both individuals continue to perch and sing from their respective territories. The closest individual off the south side of the Casco Road/Pleasant Hill Road intersection was very accessible this morning. One time, the bird came 1.5 meters from my feet (too close for binocular views), appearing to pick sand//gravel from the shoulder of the road. Another time it flew to the ditch (2 meters away), searching for insect prey. Most other times, the bird perched 3-10 meters away in goldenrod clumps or other weedy growth, singing (very loudly) at a cadence of 4-5 seconds. Amazing views of this secretive species! Photos and audio file obtained.
