Bird in left profile. The light brown wings darkening to the dark brown tips visible
Observation details
Mark flushed the bird as he pursued sparrows in a field with clumps of trees, low shrubs with leaf litter beneath. Bird's explosive lift-off and loud wing trill (like a very loud Mourning Dove wing trill) heard. From a 30' range, I saw the bird's unmarked upper wing surface which looked light to medium brown as it briefly flew to the next, low shrub and tree complex. The bird flush a second time and I saw it in profile from about a 30' range. In profile, the orange flank and belly were prominent with an orange and white under-wings. The bird flushed a third time and flew across the road. The two photos show the bird near to landing across the road.
