Observation details
Lifer! Saw one on the side of the road and jumped out to try to flush it but it disappeared. I turned the corner and saw four more! Got decent looks. They were hanging out in the road soaking wet. Maybe to get out of the wet grass. Saw the gray body brown belly patch and orange head. They disappeared into the grass and I walked up to see if any would flush. Unfortunately one did but it was right out of its nest breaking a few eggs. The nest was a depression on the ground a few feet away from the road. There were still 5 unbroken eggs left but 4 or 5 were flung and broken out of the nest when she flushed up with a huge explosion of wings. Wasn’t able to see much except for the rufous tail. Sad for the lost eggs dang but happy for the lifer.
