Observation details
Seen for at least 20 minutes. A few minutes after I stopped the car I looked up and saw it on the telephone line at a distance of about 30 feet. I hadn't used any playback. After a while it swooped low over the car about 10 feet from me and landed in a birch at a distance of about 20 feet. After several minutes it plunged into the bushes and was there for a couple of minutes, so I think it got something. When it flew off I did not see anything it its talons. It landed on a white pine branch, then moved to another white pine after a minute or so, and then flew low across the road and landed on the ground on the edge of the ditch. I didn't see it get anything. Then it flew back up to the telephone line about 50 yards south of me. It kept moving south until it was about 200 yards away and then, when I wasn't watching, it disappeared. The bird did not vocalize. Also seen along the same stretch of road around sunset on June 10.
