Observation details
Continuing individual for a month or so found initially by Alex Patia. After not seeing it at first, I had great views with the scope for about half an hour as it fed with the Surfbirds, Black Turnstones, and Black Oystercatchers on the rocks just off Rosario Head. Appears to fit well with the expected subspecies group of quarta/tschuktschorum/couesi by overall darkness of the bird in particular of the upperparts which would be paler gray in ptilocnemis. Wing stripe seems most consistent with tschuktschorum rather than couesi or ptilocnemis as pictured here: http://www.birdingak.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/ROSA-wing-patterns.pdf. Just the 2nd record for Skagit County and my 40th species of shorebird seen in the county!
