begging call of fully-fledged immature (made to Green-backed Gerygone hosts)
Observation details
unusual individual with almost entirely plain grey upperparts; in the field very little green sheen able to be seen (none showing in photo); this bird was being fed by Green-backed Gerygones (I observed one feed it), but was also foraging itself; according to HBW says "additional hosts claimed for minutillus in Australia include Green-backed (Gerygone chloronota)", citing Erritzøe et al. Cuckoos of the World (2012). This observation would seem to confirm that claim; grey plumage of cuckoo does not mimic juv/imm Green-backed Gerygone, which have olive-green back from fledging
