NOTES: Breeding status: TERRITORIAL PAIRED; ON PLAYBACK OF A RECORDING MADE EARLIER THE MALE, FOLLOWED BY THE FEMALE, LEFT THE NEST AREA TO CIRCLE ME. BOTH THEN LANDED IN A DEAD TREE SOME 25M AWAY. THE MALE CHIRPED SOMEWHAT FASTER THAN WHEN RECORDED EARLIER. I COULD NOT DETERMINE WHETHER THE FEMALE ALSO CHIRPED. SEMI-SUBMERGED BOTTOM LAND AROUND NEST TREE. SCATTERED TALL TREES, DEAD AND ALIVE. [This represents the "kewt" call described in BNA account. Quality changed from 1-2 to 3-2,2-1 - CAM - 23 November 2004]. Sound stimulation was (other): PLAYBACK. Response to playback: Approach. Other Behaviors: Emit Alarm.
