Media notes
Middle bird. With Gray-breasted Martin.
Observation details
**Rare. I saw the bird while looking through the martins and swallows, when the birds was perched and almost dismissed it as a Gray-breasted without thinking. It was on wires with group of 12 Gray-breasted Martin, Mangrove Swallows and Southern Rough-winged Swallows. Size and shape similar to Gray-breasted Martin but with brown upperparts and a well-defined brown chest band, recalling huge Bank Swallow. I didn't think I had any identifiable photos, but realize I do have two perched, and two in flght. Unfortunately, the perched photos were taken when the bird as preening making it very difficult to see the pattern of the underparts; one can see the shape, overall coloration, and the underparts are visible on the distant flight photos. **Notes updated 15 December when photos uploaded.
