Observation details
difficult birds to get here, rarely detected here even as calling flyovers. Saw one as I walked past the lime kiln just on the ground with a bunch of robins and other assorted birds which was very nice so didn't have to be a flyover cheat. Then saw one at edge of snow by willow grove parking area. This bird was chased off by a house sparrow of all things. Then as I went to the hawk watch I could hear the tinkling of a horned lark up in the willow grove mowed field area so I went toward it and as I was doing that some people flushed off all the birds that were out there eastward, which were about 15 pipits and at least two larks. This caused me to spend an extra two hours here trying to see if I could find this group again to pick through it further, but sadly to no avail. I did find another lone pipit in some brown grass at the LRD trail field area by some bluebirds and tree stands. And when I got back to the willow grove parking lot that bird seemed to be back out in the grass there. But no big group again. I did manage a rough "digi-bin" of the pipit at willow grove which I will include. Nice to have some physical evidence/remembrance of this fun day.
