Observation details
Continuing bird found yesterday by Nick Lethaby. I couldn’t manage a good picture, but I had good long looks at this continuing bird. It spent most of its time with its head tucked, and could then be distinguished from the similarly-sizes Western Grebes by showing no bright white. When it looked up you could see it had a longer, thicker bill than the Westerns, much longer than the Horned Grebes, and theat it tended to point down. Its head was darker above and lighter below. Scope views were good from the rocky beach below the parking lot in the park, looking back into the bay to the Northeast.
