Media notes
It was cool and light rain was falling. We were not birding, but went down to the river one more time before leaving the area. I could not id this bird, but was told by my brother it was a Red-naped Sapsucker (confirmed by Derek Muschalek).
Observation details
The temperature was moderate for November - in the 60s and a light rain was falling. We initially did not see the bird as it blended in with the cypress tree at the edge of the river. The bird was feeding and edged away (to the river side of the tree) when I tried to get closer for a better photo.
