Media notes
Rustic Bunting Neah Bay along Boom Road that goes out to the jetty. The bird was feeding along the creek edge on the bay side of the road.
Observation details
Continuing bird first reported by Cara Borre on December 7th. Cara spotted the bird first this morning while walking the beach just below the road out to the jetty. The bird was located later and seen by 8 or 9 birders. I got a number of good pictures. The peaked crown was evident and easily recognized on this bird. I saw the cinnamon brown streaking on the flanks. The upper parts such as the back were a pale cinnamon or chestnut brown. The throat was white as was the belly. It had a cinnamon upper breast necklace. The peaked crown was made up of cinnamon streaks. A dark cinnamon pattern was on the auricular area with the malar and orbital feathers showing clean white areas. There was a white spot at the rear of the auricular pattern The legs were pale pinkish as was the bill.
