Observation details
We only heard the birds that were across the creek from us. Richard heard many this last spring at High Island and Sabine woods. Paul Sellin recorded them and will be sending the recording to E-bird. PS: The Catbird that I recorded (See recording, below) was the most active, probably giving the cat-like call and the "ratchet ("chek, chek, chek") call for about 30 seconds. The first bird was about 50 feet away and below us. The second bird was on the same bank, across the water, about 50 feet up the creek from the first bird. The second bird called a few times in the same period as the first bird's calls. My recording only has the cat-like call given by the first bird's last call. To help me understand the validity of the calls, besides using iBird' Pro Explorer's call library in the field, this evening I looked up and listened to many recordings of Grey Catbird (no "Gray" Catbird in the xeno-canto database). A good recording for the cat-like call that I heard in the field and recorded is: Patrick Blakes' Lake County, FL from 11-11-2016, 0:23. The best "ratchet" call recording that matches my experience in the field today is on the second page, an 8 second recording made by Paul Driver on 9-18-2010 in Huntington Valley, PA
