Media notes
More Aleutian Cackling Geese. Note the distinctive head shape with pronounced foreheads and generally boxy square profiles. Aleutians are generally paler breasted than minima Cacklers and they lack the glossy breasts normally seen on adult minima. Although these birds all show extensive white on the neck, at this time of year non-adult Aleutians often show little if any white at the bottom of the neck sock.
Observation details
careful count. many bird with complete white collars and all that I saw well had pronounced squared off foreheads.
