Observation details
Mega rarity. Viewed from Spermicetti boardwalk. 2nd cy gull slightly smaller and darker than ring-billed gull. This bird had a small stubby bill with a dark band, the base was greenish with a paler tip. The head was very round and dove like with a very dark eye that appeared large. In flight this bird showed extensive dark in the wingtips with mirrors on both p10 and p9. There are two previous NJ records for short billed/common gull. This would be the first state record for common gull pending acceptance from the NJBRC.
