Observation details
Flew in high from NE and spent approximately two minutes careening over Unity Park before moving off SE at 16:13hrs. Tiny gull, but looking longer-winged and more elegant than expected, plus true size difficult to judge as it flew alone most of the time. Generally light gray upperside but with thick black 'M' across upperside contrasting with white rump and tail and neat black tail band. Bill appeared small, fine and black. Head pattern somewhat dusky with markings around ear coverts and rear crown creating slight 'bonnet' effect somewhat recalling first-year Franklin's Gull. Black secondary bar shows well in most images. My second record for the site after one (an adult) on Dec 21st, 2008.
