NOTES: Range Status: this bird is lower than elevation range given in Birds of Venezuela for M. simplex. [note on data form. mf] Notes: in both this recording and my M. simplex recording the song consists of a series of whistles increasing in pitch, whilst all M. campanisona I have heard either "live" or on tape have a song consisting of whistles decreasing in pitch. Quality of song in this recording more like M. simplex than M. campanisona, but recorded song lower pitched than song of M. simplex I recorded on Sierra de Lema slopes. Response to playback: No response. Habitat: Rainforest, Second-growth.
