Observation details
Bird came to empty feeder late October. Feeder was filled and bird has remained in area as of November 19, 2016. Hummingbird interacts with chickadees and nuthatches at seed feeder in non aggressive way then approaches hummingbird feeder. On November 22, B. MacCallum assisted by L. Morgan and V. Parker caught this hummingbird in a mist net. The bird now known as "Tuffy" was transported to the Medicine River Wildlife Centre's First Aid Station in Drayton Valley, and cared for for a few days by L Duperron until arrangements were made to fly her to Campbell River on Vancouver Island where "Tuffy" was released successfully November 25. Thanks to Carol Kelly from the MRWC for her knowledge of how to care for a hummingbird and all the arrangements.
