Observation details
*Very rare. Apparent adult first appeared 9/19 and initially ID'd as RIHU. Kept very quiet per request of homeowner. Fairly confiding bird feeding briefly every 10-15min. The bird was not around on arrival, so the homeowner (Vicki) called "hummingbird come here" and the bird came to the feeder almost immediately (This happened at least twice and I am still shook). Bird was very vocal and was always heard before it was seen- recordings attached. If not in view, it could sometimes be heard calling from the hemlock in the back. When cycling to the feeder it often perched in one of two lilacs calling and preening. Bird did not reappear on 9/25- perhaps moving back south on the north winds?
