Showing long legs and wing- and primary projections
Observation details
Two birds came migrating from the north and one bird landed about 100 m from me where I had just been. I went back and re-located this bird that was in heavy mount with p7 being dropped and p6 growing on both wings. It was preening actively when i found it. I took photos and flushed it a few times and tried to get a recording but it remained silent. Overall rather golden, specially in the face and back including the greater coverts. Rather long and slim legged, specially the tibia. Also rather long-billed. Wingtip projected only very little beyond the tail and the tertials were long almost reaching the tip of the tail. Pictures has been reviewed by others including Alvaro Jaramillo who also pointed out that an American wouldn't be in such advanced molt stage at this time of the year.
