Observation details

One male one female. Continuing at Lake Wauberg and observed off the 441 side. Both were seen hanging out around Ruddy Ducks and Lesser Scaup. Male was visibly larger than nearby Lessers. Male had a greater amount of black on top of bill that is diagnostic for Greater Scaup. Male also had green head sheen, puffier cheeks, and a larger, more rounded head that was visibly thicker than Lessers nearby. Female also had larger, thicker, and more rounded head than nearby Lessers along with much puffier cheeks and thicker neck. Female Greater was also sizably larger than Lessers. I was able to obtain several comparison photos for both the male and female. Showed these photos to Tim Hardin as well, who believed these photos to be good proof of Greater Scaups and were differentiated from the Lessers so I then changed my observation to 2 Greater Scaup.
