Observation details
At least 35-40 engaging in attempted migration flight from copse of conifers at the south end of Lobster Cove. These birds were very vocal and would gather at the tops of the trees until deciding to launch at a steep angle skyward towards the ocean only to turn around and descend steeply in what appeared to be an aborted attempt. At first this group involved 10 or so birds, but the flock grew to as many as 40. Video and photos. I encountered a very similar behavior earlier this fall with a similar sized flock at Durham Bridge, eastern Sebasticook Lake (see eBird notes for xxx). We estimated 40 elsewhere on our walk.
