Observation details
Alvaro Jaramillo kindly looked at this posting and thought this bird likely a Cook Inlet Gull – Glaucous-winged x Herring. First cycle. Alvaro did not share his analysis. I suspect the analysis to be something like: Primaries are too dark and the bill appears too short and slight for a pure Glaucous-winged; bill is too hefty and plumage is not patterned enough for "Thayer's"; bill is not hefty enough for GWGU x Western hybrid; legs color cannot be seen. The bird was seen just west of the I-90 bridge in the middle of the creek. Kevin Lapp apparently saw this same bird on Nov. 22nd and also hypothesized a hybrid.
