!! Big bulky pale-brownish loon with large upturned ivory-yellow bill with the upper edge of the upper mandible completely pale yellow. Thick neck, blocky head and steep forehead also noted. Fine whitish scaling on the back indicating likely an immature. Of course today had to be the day my camera malfunctioned but the bird came in so close at one point that I was able to take some cell phone pics that at least show what it is. After a little while the bird swam out to deeper waters and I lost it due to distance and heavy waves.
