Observation details

Photo (though very poor quality). Unmistakeable male: red face patch, blue/green neck, white ring on neck, long tail. Working grass under cottonwoods near SE corner/flag football fields near flock of geese. Spooked by park maintenance and it ran into the reeds on the SE shore of the lake near the boggy area (came within two feet of my spot as I hid behind a tree). Didn't see it again. Seemed startled in general, but did not take flight.
