Observation details
This rare bird has been seen for several days before this occasion. The sandpiper flushed but did not fly particularly far, allowing the half dozen of us present to view it from 10-20 yards away as it kept low in the marsh grass. It was comfortable foraging in marsh pool though still hard to see through the dead grass. Eventually it dropped into one of the drain ditches and waded unafraid as we watched from just above it. Exact location is given in the location.
