Observation details
***RARE*** Fifth state record and second county record. This was a great experience with lots of great people. The homeowner, Evie Dibben, noticed an unusual bird in her yard and posted photos to Facebook clearly showing a FTFL. Dan Haas eventually relocated the bird at 14:22. I got there about an hour later and the bird quickly returned to the wires where it was originally found. It defied all expectations - I think of FTFL as turning up at migrant traps along the coast or in open areas with lots of telephone wires, but this bird was on some low telephone wires and adjacent posts in a garden between two houses in a somewhat heavily-wooded suburban neighborhood. Crazy! We lost track of the bird for about 20 minutes but Evan Buck relocated it high in a nearby oak tree getting harassed by the local bluebirds. We also got it in the scope for one of the neighbors. The bird was still present when I left. Awesome awesome awesome
