Observation details
We both heard a complex song, seemingly of a sparrow, that we didn't recognize. So I recorded it. As I did so I also noticed a sparrow in tree behind us. It looked similar to Song Sparrow but with very reddish streaking on front, more like a Fox Sparrow. Since I saw no gray around head and since it was backlit I assumed it was not a Fox Sparrow. Only later did I realize no gray would show up on a frontal view. When I later listened to recording at home it seemed very much like a Fox Sparrow. There is a lot of other noise on recording but to me it still sounds very much like a Fox Sparrow. It sings three times in first 15 seconds, though the songs are similar but not identical to one another. Changed to Song Sparrow after being told it was just a young Song Sparrow, possibly practicing his ong.
