Media notes

Adult with prey. Remarks: This photo was taken in an oil palm plantation, and I estimate it was at least 1km away from any forested area. The habits of the Spotted Wood Owl are described in 'The Birds of the Thai-Malay Penninsula' (David R Wells, 1999) as including coconut and oil plantations, but this is not noted for the Brown Wood Owl, which is more normally associated with forest edges. - CH.
