Observation details
Lifer! Discovered it in the lagoons toward the very north end after walking gravel path. Very small bird possibly eight inches. Had a black eye patch and black coming from the back of the crown and down. Pale grey wings with brownish/rust colored tail. No streaking on the back like a RNPH. White breast. Bill seemed heavier than RNPH with trace amount of yellow at base. Was swimming in circles feeding in the water. Was surprised to see this inland. But we theorized that it could have come in because of recent storm. Both of us were able to study it quite well as it was very close and seemingly unafraid of our presence. Took numerous photos. Will upload some.
